SOME GOOD ADVICE ON STUDYING
FOR AN ENGLISH EXAM
a) Don't leave it for the last days.
It is worthwhile to study a little every day. But, if you don't have
much time,
don't try to learn everything: select the most important grammar rules and the
vocabulary
b) Concentrate on what is new for
you or on what you find more difficult. But, revise what you have
already
studied or find easy.
c) To revise for a reading and
writing exam, it is important to go through the characteristics and
useful language
of each type, especially, the LINKING WORDS.
SOME GOOD ADVICE ON TAKING ANY
ENGLISH EXAM
a) Read carefully the questions.
Make sure you understand what you are asked for.
b) Take note of the number of marks
per questions and measure the time you are using in each.
c) If you don't know an answer or
you find it too difficult, go on to the next. Do first what you find
easy. But, don't forget to go
back to those you haven't done.
d) Don't worry if there are words
that you don't know. You can use different strategies to guess their
meaning (context, synonyms,
antonyms...). Sometimes the text offers you an alternative or
explains it in
other sections. One question can help you answer another one.
d) Leave yourself a few minutes at
the end of the exam to check for mistakes of grammar, spelling
and punctuation
